If you typed counter surveillance private investigators, you may be trying to protect a boardroom, a home, or a negotiation from being overheard. That problem is usually TSCM. Or you may need someone followed in the street, served with process, or watched from a car. That classic private investigator product is not what we sell. We are not a PI firm. Decision table: room threat (bugs, covert recorders, hostile RF) equals TSCM. Physical tailing and doorstep investigation equals a licensed PI elsewhere. Open-source and technical virtual investigation of people and devices equals a separate TSCM Partners product line, scoped case by case.
What private investigators do that we do not
Classic PI work centres on physical human subjects: following people, evidence for disputes in the field, skip tracing on the pavement, and related tasks under local licensing rules. That is a regulated trade in many jurisdictions. It is not a TSCM sweep, and we will not dress up as that trade to win a keyword.
Virtual investigations on people and devices
Where we do investigate is virtual: people and devices in the digital and technical layer. Think identity and footprint questions, device and account pathways, exposure that shows up before anyone needs a van outside a door. One client needs a quiet check on a name tied to a leak. Another needs a device or online presence reviewed after a strange message, a stolen laptop scare, or a contractor who should not still have access. Situations are different. We stay creative inside lawful, defensive scope, then tell you when the job has become classic PI fieldwork we will not take.
Typical fees: about £100 to £300 GBP per investigation
Most virtual investigations land on or around £100 to £300 GBP per investigation, depending on depth, how many people or devices sit in the brief, and how fast you need an answer. That is a guide, not a menu. A narrow check can sit near the lower end. A denser multi-device or multi-person brief can sit higher. Ask for a specific quote for your situation. All customers are different, and we would rather price the real scope than sell a fake fixed PI package.
Why the phrases collide online
Marketers glue counter surveillance to private investigators because both sound protective. The collision creates bad buying. A PI walking a room with a consumer detector is not a substitute for a professional bug sweep. A TSCM team is not a substitute for a licensed street PI either. Virtual investigation sits in the middle for buyers who need answers about people and devices without hiring a traditional investigator for fieldwork they do not need.
How to choose without wasting the first call
If the fear is someone is listening in this room, start with TSCM. If the fear is someone is following me in the street, start with a licensed PI. If the fear is who is this person, what does this device expose, or what shows up before we authorise a full sweep, ask us about a virtual investigation. Describe the rooms, the people and the devices separately on the call. For technical surveillance countermeasures, defensive counter surveillance, and virtual investigations on people and devices, contact TSCM Partners. For classic private investigation fieldwork, hire a licensed PI elsewhere.
